defensive tackle Quinton Dial announced his retirement from the NFL in a post on his instagram account Thursday night.“I want to thank the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers for the opportunity that you gave a country boy from a small town in Alabama when no one else would. To the fans Womens Jermaine Whitehead Jersey , thanks for the countless memories that have made the last five years something special,” Dial wrote.Dial was a fifth-round pick of the 49ers in 2013 and would appear in 46 games with 34 starts during his four years with the team. He spent one year with the Green Bay Packers in 2017 where he appeared in 13 games with two starts. He did not play in the league last season.Dial has totaled 145 tackles with 4.5 sacks and five passes defended during his five years in the NFL.“I’ve faced a lot of injuries throughout my career and I feel it is in my best interest to hang up the cleats and pursue another career,” Dial continued. “I am excited about what the future holds for my family and I. The cornerbacks are largely the same. But that combination of new arrivals and development of young players gives the Green Bay Packers’ secondary a chance to be a very good unit in 2019, and some people around the NFL are beginning to take notice as OTAs are set to begin on Monday. This week Womens Brett Favre Jersey , Danny Kelly of The Ringer listed the seven most underrated position groups in the NFL, and the Packers’ secondary was one of the highlights of the list. In a sense, Kelly is looking at the potential ceiling for these units compared to their wider expectations and finds that this gap is massive for the Packers’ defensive backs: “Put together, Green Bay has amassed one of the most talented, versatile, and high-upside secondaries in the NFL.”The projected safety duo of Adrian Amos and first-round pick Darnell Savage Davon House Jersey White , Jr. appears to be a perfect set of complements for each other on the back end. Although the initial analysis suggests that Amos will be more of the in-the-box safety while Savage will play a center field role, that’s not how they must line up. Both players are capable of playing in any safety alignment, while Savage has plenty of slot corner experience as well. Ultimately, though, it is Amos’ ability to always reliably carry out his assignment that should allow Savage to roam more freely and hunt out big plays. That versatility will be critical for the Packers on the back end this season. After all, Mike Pettine loves to disguise pressure on the quarterback as well as hide his coverage schemes Kyler Fackrell Jersey White , something that these players should help him do. As Kelly notes, this year’s group of safeties “should give (Pettine) the ability to deploy his safety group in any number of schemes or coverage looks—and should augment his ability to send blitzes from everywhere on the field.”Then there’s the cornerback group. Admittedly, optimism among Packers fans about the position is centered around the development of young talent. Sure, Tramon Williams is a steadying presence and will likely contribute in the slot a fair amount, but it is the top-end talent and swagger of Jaire Alexander that will lead this group on the field. A full offseason of development on man coverage should help Josh Jackson as well, and for Kevin King http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-justin-vogel-jersey , it’s all about staying healthy rather than worrying about development. Kelly didn’t even get a chance to dig deeper into the depth chart either, where Tony Brown projects as a physical, athletic number five cornerback and Ka’Dar Hollman brings exceptional speed and tenacity to the table.Adding the Packers’ defensive backfield to a list of units that includes the 49ers’ defensive line (with new additions Nick Bosa and Dee Ford), the Colts’ receivers (which added Parris Campbell and Devin Funchess) and the Falcons’ offensive line (first-round picks in Chris Lindstrom and Kaleb McGary) shows that big additions are a theme here. These groups all have received significant investments from their GMs this offseason, and are looking for big steps forward in 2019. Here’s hoping that the Packers’ secondary stays healthy, because if they do — and if the revamped pass rush in front of them does as well — this defense could get very good very quickly.
he expects to play next week against the Detroit Lions despite leaving Monday night’s game early after aggravating a chest injury that limited him in practice last week.Cook was injured as Seattle Seahawks defensive end Rasheem Green punched the ball free of Cook’s grasp on a third quarter run. Bradley McDougald would recover the loose ball http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-fran-tarkenton-jersey , which set up a Jason Myers field goal that gave Seattle a 20-17 lead. Cook remained down on the field for a reasonably lengthy period of time before getting to his feet and walking slowly off the field. He was immediately taken to the locker room for further evaluation. While the injury was announced as a shoulder injury at the time, it’s actually a recurrence of the chest injury he dealt with coming out of the team’s win over the Denver Broncos.“He just hit me right on what I had last week when we played the Broncos,” Cook said. “He just hit me right on it, when he went to punch for the ball, hit me right on it. It was kind of like a different feeling. It was different. He got me in a good spot. It’s a weird injury that I’ve got. It’s kind of like when I land in an awkward spot, it kind of hurts. I try to kind of land where it don’t hurt so. It’s kind of awkward, the way that I was landing. But like I said, it’s a physical sport. End of the year Womens Paul Krause Jersey , I’ll be all right.”Head coach Mike Zimmer flatly said “no” when asked if Cook’s injury was something to worry about. Cook had nine carries for 29 yards and three catches for 35 yards when he was forced from the game.Cook vowed to play next weekend against the Lions.“I’ll definitely be ready to go Sunday,” he said. FLORHAM PARK Trevor Siemian Jerseys 2019 , N.J. (AP) — Spencer Long was frustrated, angry and thoroughly embarrassed. He had gone from being the leader of the New York Jets‘ offensive line to an unexpected punchline.Long was all over the blooper reels and social media — the center who simply couldn’t snap the football.“It was a tough, challenging time that I don’t think a lot of people knew exactly what was going on,” Long told The Associated Press on Friday. “My reputation was on the line.”Long was already dealing with a lingering injury to his right hand — his snapping hand — early in the season when he hurt a tendon in his middle finger against Jacksonville in Week 4. It made for a painful combination — “kind of just a chain reaction,” he said — that produced sometimes unpredictably ugly results. There were a few wayward shotgun snaps, and Long tried to push through his misfires before sitting out one week. Then came a disastrous game at Miami in Week 9.“Any time you put your hand on the ball and it doesn’t feel right, it creates an issue, especially for a guy that’s only been playing for so long at that position,” said the 28-year-old Long, who was a guard in his first 2½ NFL seasons in Washington. “I gave the impression that I was ready to go that week and throughout practice I was fine, all my snaps were fine. And then we go into the game and re-injury happens and then you’re in panic mode, you know? And, it was tough.“It was a pretty (awful) time.”The Jets ran an inside zone play against the Dolphins when Long was hit in the back and his right hand was engaged with another player. That’s when he felt a familiar searing pain in his finger.“There it goes again,” Long recalled, “And this is in the middle of a drive. I’m not going to pull myself out during the drive and create dysfunction in the flow.“But obviously Color Rush Trevon Wesco Jersey , it was a risky decision that didn’t pay off.”Long had at least six errant shotgun snaps to rookie Sam Darnold, including one that soared over the quarterback’s head. He was replaced by Jonotthan Harrison on the next series — and hasn’t snapped in a game since.Long, who signed a four-year, $27.4 million contract last offseason, became a popular target of frustrated fans, with the snaps mockingly turned into gifs and memes on social media.“I felt bad for my teammates and coaches for putting that out there,” he said of his performance. “For the fan base, too, because they deserved more than that from me. I’m a guy that’s supposed to be an addition and not a subtraction to this line.”Some blamed coach Todd Bowles for not pulling Long sooner. Others thought offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates should have called for fewer shotgun plays.“It was on me,” Long said. “It was completely on me. I made a decision that maybe wasn’t smart at the time. But I thought until it happened, I was getting through it. It was a (lousy) situation. It was really hard for a while there. I mean, I get it. I understand. I’m a pro center. I’m not supposed to have issues like that. I understand why people would be frustrated. Nobody was more frustrated than me, I can promise you that.“It was tough for me, but, you’ve just got to stick it out.”That Youth Trevon Wesco Jersey , however, was far from easy. His hand was betraying him. And that put him in a dark spot mentally.“It was probably the most stress I’ve ever had playing football,” Long said. “It just kept getting worse because I was using it. I couldn’t protect it. It was a tough month there. It was probably four to six weeks until I was able to move on and be the person that I know I can be, and come back and contribute to this team without that worry.”Starting left guard James Carpenter went down with a season-ending knee injury in Week 10 against Buffalo, creating a void on the offensive line. The Jets shifted Long to guard — where he has started three of the last four games.“It’s crazy how things rearranged themselves via an unfortunate circumstance, but I’m just glad to be playing ball again,” Long said. “I know that I could play both positions at a high level, so whatever the team needs me for.”Bowles has seen Long grow more comfortable at left guard during the last month, and his teammates praise him for bouncing back from a situation in which some players might have withered.“He’s a fighter,” Harrison said. “The fact he was able to push through all he had going on, come back out there and keep on fighting, we’ve got all the respect for him.”Long’s future with the Jets is uncertain. He’s due to make $3 million next season with a $3.5 million roster bonus due in February. It’s unclear if he’d be move back to center after an offseason of healing and rehab or stick to left guard. There’s also the likely possibility that there will be a new coaching staff in place. He insists he isn’t thinking about any of that right now. Long is focused on ending what had been a brutal season for him on a positive note.“This was a tough time and it all really tested me,” Long said. “I feel like I’ve come out on the other side with a lot more knowledge about the game and what it takes to get through stuff because of it. It makes the game uncomfortable when you’re not playing with the swagger that you need to have.“But you know, I’m not a quitter, so I just keep going.” A familiar name to New York Giants fans will be returning to coach New York football.Jay Glazer of FOX is “hearing” that former Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride will coach the XFL’s New York team. Like the Giants (and the Jets) the New York XFL franchise will play at MetLife Stadium. This report meshes with the fact that (as PFT has been told) Gilbride attended the first wave of Spring League games in Texas Womens Trevon Wesco Jersey , with other XFL coaches. The 67-year-old Gilbride served as head coach of the Chargers from 1997-98. He has worked as offensive coordinator for the Oilers, Steelers, Jaguars, and Bills. For both of the Giants’ Super Bowl wins with Eli Manning as the quarterback and Tom Coughlin as the coach, Gilbride ran the offense.Working as an analyst, Gilbride also provided one of the most memorable moments from the afternoon show that aired on NBCSN.The XFL had planned to name all eight head coaches by the end of March. Officially, four have been named: Bob Stoops in Dallas, Pep Hamilton in D.C., Jim Zorn in Seattle, and Marc Trestman in Tampa. Gilbride has not yet officially been named; no coaches have been named or reported for teams to be located in Houston, St. Louis, or L.A.
the acquisition and departure of wide receiver Antonio Brown Color Rush Jacob Bailey Jersey , the Oakland Raiders finally began their regular season Monday night against the Denver Broncos. And you can’t fault the Raiders if they’re trying to turn the page.According to Scott Bair of NBC Bay Area, Raiders General Manager Mike Mayock was asked about Brown prior to kickoff Monday night. Mayock’s response was understandably short.“There isn’t much to say. Actions speak louder than words,” he said.Brown is now a member of the New England Patriots and the Raiders will have to find out if they win with the group that they have instead. The plus side is that it’s not like Brown spent all that much time practicing in Oakland because of frozen feet and a refusal to practice without his favorite helmet.Mayock’s comment of “actions speak louder than words” can simultaneously address their decision to release him showing that they wouldn’t put up with any more from Brown and that Brown’s apology delivered Friday was pretty hollow compared to the stuff he was doing throughout the week. And while Brown and the Raiders will continue to be linked due to the utter disaster Brown’s tenure with the team was, he will no longer be a daily topic of conversation for Oakland moving forward. Read more: How Chase Winovich fits the Patriots defense"A rotational edge rusher was on the New England Patriots’ wish list entering day two of the 2019 NFL draft, and the team found one in round three: with the 77th selection, the reigning world champions selected Michigan’s Chase Winovich — the third player taken by the team after wide receiver N’Keal Harry in round one and cornerback Joejuan Williams in round two. In New England, Winovich will enter a defensive edge rotation currently headed by veteran Michael Bennett, Deatrich Wise Jr. and John Simon. All three of them will impact the rookie’s development at this early stage in his career, as Winovich told reporters during a conference call shortly after getting drafted. “I’m trying to learn from my teammates whenever I get to New England Youth Jacob Bailey Jersey ,” the third-round pick said.“That’s my first goal. I’m not trying to model my game after any one specific player, I’m just trying to get to New England, find out who the veterans are, and get under their wing and learn from their leadership and tutelage,” he continued. What should also help the Michigan product in this regard and to grow as a player in general is his willingness and ability to play multiple roles on the Patriots’ ever-shifting defensive front.“I’ve always prided myself on being a football player, so wherever the coaches want to put me, ultimately,” Winovich answered when asked which position he sees himself playing at the next level. “If you look at my history, I’ve played a lot of different positions and that’s where the coaches are going to decide where I fit best Womens Jacob Bailey Jersey , so that’s their choice not mine. I’m happy to play anywhere. I just want to get on the field and contribute and work hard.”Pats Pulpit reacts to the Chase Winovich pickSubscribe to the Pats Pulpit podcast for more draft reactions! At Michigan, Winovich did just that: appearing in 41 games for the Wolverines over a four-year span, the 24-year-old registered 18.5 sacks playing primarily as a weak-side linebacker. But as he pointed out, his abilities extend beyond just one position — something that will likely also be asked of the rookie in New England. By the sounds of it, that’s just the way he wants i.“I just never wanted to leave the field, and it’s no different to this day. I want to contribute in any way possible, but at the end of the day, that’s up to the coaches to decided where I’m going to fit best,” Winovich Authentic Jacob Bailey Jersey , who originally joined Michigan as a fullback/tight end hybrid, continued when speaking about his skill set. “I’m just going to go in there, work as hard as I possibly can and just work hard.”“That’s what it comes down to. I’m not making any guarantees. I’m not promising where I’m going to play. I’m not the coach — that’s up to them.” No matter where he is ultimately put by the Patriots’ coaches, Winovich will bring one thing to the table: high energy. “I like to think of myself as kind of a junkyard dog, just tenacious, relentless effort and motor, just scrapping for every inch,” he said about his approach to the game.“But at the same time, I like to think I’m slippery here — as they say in Pittsburgh Jacob Bailey Jersey Boys , ‘slippy.’ I think I bring some versatility and I think my combine was an example of some of the speed that I have,” he continued. “When you factor all of that in together, I think that makes me a pretty interesting pick and prospect and football player in general. At the end of the day, I’m just trying to go out there, prove my worth to the other guys on the team, and ultimately to the rest of the world.”
Deone Bucannon and waived linebacker Tuzar Skipper. The Giants (2-5) also signed linebacker Devante Downs from the practice squad and waived tight end Garrett Dickerson.Bucannon has played in 75 regular-season games Daniel Jones New York Giants Jersey , including five this season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who released him on Oct. 8. The “legal tampering” window begins at noon Monday, which means that by the time the signing period begins Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET we will probably already know where most of the big name players are heading. What will the New York Giants do in free agency? Let’s look at the Giants primary needs and, through a mix of information and intuition, the players who seem like the most likely targets for GM Dave Gettleman.Right tacklePrimary target — Daryl Williams, Carolina PanthersAfter Friday’s trade for guard Kevin Zeitler and the re-signing of center Jon Halapio, the Giants likely have four-fifths of the 2019 starting offensive line in place. Chad Wheeler ranked 58th of 61 tackles who played 50 percent of their team’s snaps in 2018 Youth Phil McConkey Jerseys , per Pro Football Focus. The Giants can be expected to be aggressive in trying to find a veteran right tackle to replace Wheeler and complete that line. That isn’t exactly breaking news. It shouldn’t, in fact, surprise anyone. Williams being the primary target shouldn’t be a surprise, either. The 6-foot-6, 330-pound Williams was a 2015 fourth-round pick by Gettleman in Carolina. In 2017, he ranked 13th out of 56 tackles graded by Pro Football Focus.Williams’ BioAge:聽26 |聽Experience:聽42018 team:聽Carolina Panthers2018 cap number:聽$2.046 million2017 PFF grades聽(played only one game in 2018): Overall (78.0) | Pass (78.0) | Run (69.3)Williams missed all but one game in 2018 due to a knee injury, but could still be headed for a nice pay day in free agency. The Giants went to the wall for left tackle Nate Solder a year ago. I’m told they will go hard after Williams and are “planning to win” if it comes down to a bidding war.Spotrac estimates Williams’ market value to be four years, $31.3 million, which works out to $7.8 million annually. That would put Williams 10th among right tackle salaries. The guess here is that in the end it takes more than that to get Williams’ name on the dotted line.Another top right tackle expected to hit the market is Ju’Wuan James of the Miami Dolphins.Should the Giants not be able to reel in Williams, though, the player they might pivot to is Jermey Parnell, released a few days ago by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The eight-year veteran started for the Jaguars the past for seasons, but at 32 was let go in a salary cap move. Parnell was ranked 49th of 61 qualifying tackles by PFF. He allowed career highs in sacks (5) and pressures (39) in 2018. Parnell would likely be more of a short-term solution for the Giants.EDGEPrimary target — Markus Golden, Arizona CardinalsA couple of weeks ago I wrote that “the Giants would seem to make sense as a suitor” for Golden if he reached free agency. That was before the Giants traded Olivier Vernon to the Cleveland Browns, which means Golden to the Giants makes even more sense now.Golden Bio Age:聽28Height:聽6-foot-3 |聽Weight:聽260Experience:聽4Position:聽EDGE2018 stats:聽11 games | 2.5 sacks | 30 tackles (5 for loss) | 6 quarterback hits | 2 passes defensedPro Football Focus:聽Overall grade (52.3) | Run defense (50.8) | Tackling (83.0 — 0 missed tackles) | Pass rush (68.2) | Pass-rush productivity (10.0 — 11th among edge rushers)Here is an oddity. The Giants acquired Zeitler from Cleveland last Friday on his 29th birthday. Wednesday, the day the free agent signing period begins Phil McConkey Jerseys Stitched , is Golden’s 28th birthday. What is really important, though, is that Golden appeared to be on the verge of stardom with the Cardinals in 2016. In a defense coordinated by current Giants defensive coordinator James Bettcher, Golden had career bests in sacks (12.5), tackles (51) and quarterback hits (22). Golden tore his ACL four games into the 2017 season, didn’t return until midway through 2018 and had just 2.5 sacks in 11 games as he played his way back. He said recently on Sirius XM NFL Radio that he expected to be completely healthy to begin 2019.Another outside linebacker who could appeal to the Giants is Preston Smith of the Washington Redskins. The 26-year-old was a second-round pick by Washington in 2015. He had 24.5 sacks in his four seasons in Washington and could help the Giants on the edge. Smith was PFF’s 15-ranked EDGE player out of 65 who played more than 511 snaps.Dan Pizzuta listed Smith in his look at potential replacements for Olivier Vernon, saying he “fits the responsibilities of a more traditional 3-4 outside linebacker.”Za’Darius Smith of the Baltimore Ravens is another player who could appeal to the Giants.SafetyPrimary targets — Adrian Amos, Chicago Bears; Tyrann Mathieu, Houston TexansAfter the Giants moved on from Landon Collins, this is the position that has people fascinated. It seems as though the Giants, needing to make a choice on how best to spend the cap resources available, prioritized finding a true free safety rather than paying big for Collins, who is really a hybrid strong safety/linebacker.Amos Bio Age:聽26 in April聽Height:聽6-foot | Weight: 2142018 stats:聽37 tackles (2 for loss) | 2 interceptions | 9 passes defensedPro Football Focus:聽Overall grade (82.7) | Run defense (78.1) | Pass defense (85.5) | Tackling (74.5) | Missed tackles (9) | Passer rating against (80.1)Now, can they make that gambit pay off by landing the big-time free safety required in a Bettcher scheme that relies heavily on a single-high center fielder?Amos seems like the big prize here. The 2015 fifth-round pick was a four-year starter in Chicago. Pro Football Focus ranks Amos the No. 3 safety available in a robust safety market.PFF might be right about Amos’s market, as that is said to be “robust.”Amos had only three interceptions in four years, but is a solid back end defender. He missed only five tackles in 2018 Youth Mark Bavaro Jerseys , and his 8.7 tackling efficiency rating was 15th among 31 safeties who played at least 80 percent of their team’s snaps. In 2018, PFF had Amos playing 685 of 1,161 snaps at free safety. He played 106 at corner and 297 lined up as a box safety. So, the Bears only used him in the box 25.6 percent of the time and lined him as a deep safety on 59 percent of their defensive snaps. In 2017, Amos played 344 of 817 snaps as a free safety and 265 lined up in the box. In 2016, 582 free and 252 box. In 2015, 844 free and 144 box.Spotrac places Amos’s market value at six years, $48.4 million, or 8 million and change annually. That would put him among the top five safeties in terms of contract value, and if his market is as strong as anticipated might be conservative. If Amos doesn’t become a Giant maybe Tyrann Mathieu will. Mathieu starred for Bettcher in Arizona, and the Giants’ need for a play-making safety makes it easy to connect the dots between the Honey Badger and the Giants. After five seasons in Arizona, the last couple of which were impacted by injuries, Mathieu spent last season rebuilding his value with the Houston Texans. He has now been healthy for two full seasons and 2018 was his most productive years since his 2015 All-Pro year. He had two interceptions, eight passes defensed, a career-best three sacks and tied his career high with 89 tackles. A concern might be that his passer rating against of 112.4 was the second-worst of his career.Mathieu at this point in his career is also not a full-time free safety. In 2019, he played 301 snaps at free safety Mark Bavaro Jerseys Stitched , 352 in the slot and 419 in the box.Spotrac estimates his value at five years, $43.9 million. That is $8.7 million annually.Another former Cardinal, Deone Bucannon, might also make sense for the Giants as a Collins replacement. BBV RadioCornerbackPrimary target — Bryce Callahan, Chicago Bears The Giants appear serious about upgrading their pass coverage. The biggest “football” reason for allowing Collins to leave had to be related to pass coverage, which is not his strength. The Giants’ defense was 25th in the NFL in yards allowed per pass attempt (7.2) and 28th in yards allowed per completion (11.2), but just ninth in passer rating against (89.8).Among 22 cornerbacks who played at least 50 percent of their team’s coverage snaps, Callahan ranked fourth, giving up a reception every 11.5 coverage snaps. His 78.9 passer rating against was third in that same group of corners.Callahan is a pure slot corner. He played 610 of 689 snaps in the slot in 2018, per Pro Football Focus. In 2017, that numbers was 478 of 513.Pro Football Focus ranks Callahan as the No. 2 cornerback available on the free agent market.Spotrac sets Callahan’s market value at four years, $25.5 million. That’s roughly $6.38 million annually, per Spotrac’s calculations.Another defensive back who might interest the Giants is Kareem Jackson of the Houston Texans. Jackson turns 31 in April and has spent his entire nine-year career in Houston. He had two interceptions, tied a career-high with 17 passes defensed and set a career-high with 87 tackles last season. His versatility — and probably a lower, shorter-term price tag — might appeal to the Giants. In 2018, Jackson played 117 snaps in the box Color Rush Darius Slayton Jersey , 328 as a slot corner, 467 as an outside corner and 135 as a free safety.Cap stuffPatricia Traina took a look at the Giants’ cap situation last week, prior to the Olivier Vernon-Kevin Zeitler trade. Most of what she wrote is still valuable, and you should read it if you haven’t already. After the Vernon-Zeitler trade and the re-signing of center Jon Halapio, Spotrac now estimates the Giants to have $24.116 million in cap space. That puts them 20th in the leaguein cap space entering free agency. Considering that the Giants are estimated to need $10.6 million to sign their rookie class and that Gettleman has said he would like to save at least $8 million for contingencies that doesn’t leave the Giants a lot of room. They can’t just go off willy-nilly and throw massive amounts of cash at every player they would like to have. There are, however, always ways to maneuver the cap. I would expect the Giants to be aggressive in pursuing the top couple of players on their list, then look for bargains later. If they need cap space, tight end Rhett Ellison ($3.25 million cap savings, $2.5 million dead money) and Kareem Martin ($3.6 million savings, $2.3 million dead money) might be in jeopardy.

Josh Allen took over and Buffalo never looked back. This play won the away games championship with one of the closer margins of late, a scant 10% advantage over the incomplete to Charles Clay. The will to win from Allen might be the yarn of the year. Vs. Home Game ChampionJosh Allen to Robert Foster 75-yard touchdownAnd for the Home Games, the Josh Allen 75-yard touchdown throw to Robert Foster started as the sixth seed but cruised to easy victories in every round. Tripling the vote count of a reception from the beloved Kyle Williams Dion Dawkins Jerseys 2019 , this play could be unstoppable. A narrow victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars hinged on just a few key plays. Fans seem drawn to the poise and accuracy of this miraculous throw. A subtext of revenge over Jalen Ramsey and the Jacksonville Jaguars adds another layer that could be the difference in this Championship contest. The position of fullback is rapidly dwindling in today’s NFL. Alongside Patrick DiMarco, Pro Football Reference has fourteen other players listed that had at least one rushing attempt from the fullback spot. Right there next to DiMarco are such illustrious fullback names like “Ray-Ray McCloud.” The fact that the list is heavily peppered with “not-fullbacks” who took an occasional snap from the backfield shows exactly what the NFL thinks of the position. We’ll do our usual review for DiMarco, but the underlying question is less one of talent and more about seeing if there’s a need for a fullback at all. Play 1If you followed the weekly snap counts, it’s no secret I felt Patrick DiMarco was underutilized. On a team struggling to protect their quarterback(s), a competent pass-protecting back felt like a good idea to me. DiMarco likes to step into his opponent rather than sitting back and he’s competent doing so. It didn’t impact this play with the ball exiting quickly, but DiMarco would have given Josh Allen extra time had he needed it. Play 2A benefit of a fullback instead of a lineman can be that sharp pop to disrupt the pass rush followed by a safety-valve route. Josh Allen trips on the play White Shaq Lawson Jerseys , but if he hadn’t Patrick DiMarco was one of a few good options to throw to. As a note, this game will be heavily featured as DiMarco played more snaps in the season finale than he did in the next two highest games combined. To put it in perspective, the second game against the Miami Dolphins represents more than 1/5th of his season on offense. Play 3DiMarco’s block keeps Chris Ivory’s initial lane wide enough to maintain good momentum. DiMarco stuffs Evander Hood. While this isn’t a household name, Hood is a 300+ pound defensive tackle who gains no ground on the 234-pound fullback. At times DiMarco seemed like the most stalwart lineman on the Buffalo Bills. Play 4Sometimes the play design appeared to call for some misdirection, other times it appeared poor decision-making was at work. Either way, quite often Patrick DiMarco’s lead blocks weren’t followed. Looking at just what DiMarco did Shaq Lawson Jerseys 2019 , it’s solid work. Play 5I wouldn’t want to suggest DiMarco is flawless—sometimes he loses a match-up. After he makes a good decision to cut back and try to open the inside lane for LeSean McCoy, DiMarco doesn’t demonstrate his finest block. DiMarco maybe gets enough of his man where Shady would have been able to make it work. Had Wyatt Teller maintained his block a little better, we’d have known for sure. Play 6Patrick DiMarco doesn’t give up an inch and actually drives Mike Hull back. DiMarco’s initial blocks look a lot like Chris Ivory’s with the quick pop to start things off. When blocks need to be maintained, DiMarco uses a little more hand-fighting as shown here. Neither should be necessarily known for that skill, but DiMarco is slightly more versatile when a longer block is needed. Play 7Patrick DiMarco is a little smaller than what many might think of for a fullback. He’s also a bit quicker than many fullbacks and does a good job with his move block here. This wasn’t a staple for the Bills’ offense, but DiMarco seems capable of this role as well. Play 8There’s not a lot that’s special about this play from DiMarco. He does a solid job slipping out and looking for the pass. His speed is fine and he takes a good angle once the ball is in his hand. He does seem adept at finding soft spots in the defense White Adolphus Washington Jerseys , but his passing grade has to be an incomplete. This play represents a full 25% of throws tossed DiMarco’s way this year. He caught three for 62 yards.Play 9Here in one convenient clip is every single Patrick DiMarco rushing attempt in 2018. And this only happened because every running back was banged up. Summary Patrick DiMarco is a versatile back who can provide enhanced pass protection and safety-outlet options for a developing quarterback. This is in addition to lead blocking that’s ordinarily associated with the fullback position. That said, except for one game, the Brian Daboll offense doesn’t seem enamored with fullbacks. If a solid tight end or developmental prospect they’d like to tinker with is available, DiMarco’s days could be numbered in Buffalo. A big positive for DiMarco is that a potential replacement will need to slot cleanly into special teams play as well, where DiMarco did see more significant time. I’ll close with a chart that’s likely nothing more than fun coincidence—a correlation rather than causation kinda deal. Still though, if I’m Patrick DiMarco’s agent Youth Taron Johnson Jerseys , I’m likely making this thing into a banner. Quickly explained, the chart tracks DiMarco’s playing time each week along with the points scored by the team.
Which is why the lack of a first-round pick at the moment doesn’t mean he won’t have one by the end of the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.Via Mary Kay Cabot of the Greg Joseph Jersey , the Browns General Manager made it clear on multiple occasions that he’s open to the idea of moving back into the first round, after dealing the 17th overall pick to the Giants for wide receiver Odell Beckham.“We’ll try to plan for every scenario that we can,’’ Dorsey said. “If we deem that there’s a player to move up for – that’s a hypothetical – if you think the player can help you, you go up and do it. You have to plan for them, but then you have to execute them on the day of the draft.”Not only did he make the Beckham deal, he’s also traded future picks to get the quarterback he wanted in Kansas City (Patrick Mahomes).Coupled with some players who could be dealt (like running back Duke Johnson), and two extra fifth-rounders, the Browns have some degree of ammunition if they want to make (another) aggressive move. As reported by FOX5 television station in San Diego where the trial is being held in Vista Jabrill Peppers Color Rush Jersey , California, jury selection began and the trial is set to begin. He is facing life in prison with a barrage of charges. Winslow, Jr.’s charges span a wide array of time periods. He is charged with felonies of sexual assault on the same homeless woman twice as two counts of forcible rape, plus first-degree burglary, two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape, one count of forcible oral copulation, one count of forcible sodomy, one count of indecent exposure and two counts of residential burglary. In addition, he has misdemeanor charges of elder abuse, battery of an elderly person, and lewd conduct.Last March, while awaiting trial on the first-degree burglary and out on a $2 million bond E.J. Gaines Color Rush Jersey , he was arrested for lewd conduct for touching himself in the presence of a 77-year old woman in a hot tub at a local health club. That action resulted in his bond being revoked and he has since been incarcerated without bond. All of these charges could result in Winslow, Jr. being put away for life. Three separate cases were originally scheduled but have been combined into one jury trial. He has pled not guilty to all charges. It is speculated that part of his defense could be the result of the brain disease CTE. However, at this time this is only found to be positive once the subject is deceased and a study is performed. His defense team could attempt to use a mental defect defense as a possibility. There are multiple women who currently stand as his accusers, including two elderly women and a then-17 year old female in an incident that occurred in 2003.Winslow, Jr. was a highly-touted offensive threat coming out of college where he was a unanimous All-American and had captured the John Mackey Award for college football’s best tight end. The Browns were slated to select at the number 7 slot in the first-round, then traded a second-round pick and swap one position with the Detroit Lions in order to take Winslow, Jr. with the sixth pick. Still on the board at the time were QB Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers), DT Vince Wilfork (Patriots), RB Steven Jackson (Rams), SS Bob Sanders (Colts) and OG Chris Snee (Giants). His first two seasons in Cleveland was a wash as Winslow, Jr. broke his right fibula his rookie year and then had a motorcycle wreck that eliminated his entire sophomore season. He rebounded with his best season in 2007 where he gained 1,106 yards on 82 receptions https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Damarious-Randall-Jersey , five TDs and made the Pro Bowl. The following year he dipped to 43 catches for 428 yards and a mere three TDs. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a second and fifth-round draft pick and then signed a six-year $36 million contract. He led the Bucs in receiving for three seasons. Even though he was productive, the club felt his salary did not match his production and then was traded again, this time to the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks attempted to sign him for less money and when he declined, he was waived a week before the 2012 opening game. The New England Patriots picked him, but after one game he was released. The New York Jets signed him the following year, however, after playing in three games he was suspended for four game for violating the league’s PED program and later released after he was arrested for possession of synthetic marijuana. After sitting out two seasons, he had a workout with the Green Bay Packers but was not signed. He later played in the developmental Spring League in 2017 and was invited back to the 2018 Spring League, but did not play. This year, we at Acme Packing Company knew the names of 22 such players as of this weekend, with a handful of additional players who visited the team as part of the local Pro Day.On Monday morning, Packersnews.com published its annual list of confirmed visitors, and this year’s batch has seven names on it that APC did not yet know about. Here’s a quick look at each of the new names on APC’s list, which you can find in its entirety here.Sean Bunting, CB, Central MichiganBunting has been a riser throughout this draft process, and now has a chance to go in the top 50 picks. He had a great workout at the Combine, with a 4.42-second forty-yard dash and a 41.5-inch vertical, then recorded a solid 6.89-second 3-cone drill at his Pro Day. In addition, he has good size at a shade over 6-foot and 195 pounds, and has great ball skills as shown by nine interceptions in three years.Kahale Warring, TE, San Diego StatePossessing ideal size and speed, Warring measured in at 6-foot-5 and 252 pounds in Indy for the Combine https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Corey-Linsley-Jersey , then ran a 4.67-second 40. A likely day-three pick, he could be an excellent consolation prize for the Packers as an all-around tight end if they miss out or choose not to select one of the top options earlier. Warring was not a hugely productive receiver in college, posting just 51 career receptions, but he did have eight touchdowns.Curtis Bolton, ILB, OklahomaWhile the Big XII conference had few defensive players at the 2019 Combine, Bolton could easily be considered a snub after a stellar senior season. The 6-foot, 228-pound Bolton recorded a whopping 142 tackles in his one year as a starter, totaling 12 TFLs and 4.5 sacks. He also ran a reported 4.59-second 40 at Oklahoma’s Pro Day and clearly projects as a speedy coverage linebacker.E.J. Speed, ILB, Tarleton StateA college edge rusher who projects as an inside backer in the NFL, Speed lives up to his name thanks to a reported 4.60 forty and 6.90-second 3-cone drill at his Pro Day. He’s a long, lanky player at around 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, and after recording six sacks in 2016 and missing most of 2017 to injury, he bounced back with another five sacks in 2018. He’s likely to go undrafted but could make for an intriguing free agent signing.Nate Herbig, G, StanfordThe Packers have had good luck in the past with finding guards on day three or as undrafted players, and Herbig seems to fit that mold. Though not a great athlete — his agility testing at the Combine fell well short of what the Packers typically like in offensive linemen — he did earn two All-Pac 12 honors, named first-team as a sophomore in 2017 and second-team last year. Leaving Stanford after just three years Jaire Alexander Jersey , Herbig is a young prospect who may just be tapping into his potential.Greg Gaines, DT, WashingtonTackles from the “other” UW have been high draft picks in recent years (Vita Vea and Danny Shelton come to mind) and although Gaines won the Pac-12’s award for the conference’s best defensive lineman last year, he probably will be a day-three pick. Still, Gaines did have a nice career as a pass-rushing tackle, racking up 9.5 sacks in three-plus years as a starter, including 4.5 last season. Gaines measured in at 6-foot-1 and 308 pounds at the Combine, putting him at almost the same size as Mike Daniels. Perhaps he could be a long-term replacement at the 3-technique position?John Wirtel, LS, KansasThe Packers drafted long snapper Hunter Bradley last year in the seventh round, grabbing the Mississippi State product who had two ACL surgeries. Wirtel has a similar injury history, and was granted a sixth year of eligibility for 2018 as a result. Wirtel measures in around 6-foot-3 and 243 pounds, and he could be an undrafted free agent signing to push Bradley in camp. If you’re Aaron Rodgers, you hit the links. If you’re a young player still looking for a breakout, you’re probably finding other ways to pass the time before training camp kicks off." />Skip to main contentclockmenumore-arrownoyesAcme Packing Company homepageHorizontal - WhiteAcme Packing Companya Green Bay Packers communityFollow Acme Packing Company online:Follow Acme Packing Company on TwitterFollow Acme Packing Company on FacebookFollow Acme Packing Company on InstagramLog in or sign upLog InSign UpSite searchSearchSearchAcme Packing Company main menuFanpostsFanshotsSectionsPackersOddsAboutMastheadCommunity GuidelinesStubHubMoreAll 321 blogs on Horizontal - WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections The APC PodcastPackers Film RoomFantasy Football AdviceCDTShare this storyShare this on FacebookShare this on TwitterShareAll sharing optionsShareAll sharing options for:Cheese Curds, 7/15: Packers players pass the summer with golf, goat yoga, and Randy MossTwitterFacebookRedditPocketFlipboardEmailPhoto by Al Pereira/Getty ImagesEveryone has their own thing, right? 49ers on Sunday Mychal Kendricks Jersey , but they didn’t get favorable results in other games. All of a sudden, the Minnesota Vikings are 1鈦? game behind Seattle again for the #5 seed, while both Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles scored unlikely road wins to boost themselves to 7-7. We’ll see if the Carolina Panthers can cap off a crazy Week 15 by beating the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football.I don’t want this to be a “doom and gloom” playoff picture article, but I also remember when the Seahawks were 8-4 last year and had an outside shot at the #2 seed. Instead, the perfect storm of bad results knocked Seattle out of a playoff spot by Week 17. You should always brace for the worst case scenario, and unlike last year, the good news for the 2018 Seahawks is they’re guaranteed to still be in a wild card spot regardless of Week 16’s results. So what is that worst case scenario? Here you go...—Seahawks lose vs. the Kansas City Chiefs AND—Washington wins at the Tennessee Titans AND—Eagles win vs. the Houston Texans AND—Vikings win at the Detroit LionsThat would mean the Seahawks, Washington, and Philadelphia would all be at 8-7, while the Vikings would have an 8-6-1 record plus the #5 seed. It also makes it mathematically impossible for the Seahawks to qualify for the playoffs at 8-8, as Philly and Washington play each other in Week 17. Seattle has never lost three straight games in a season under Russell Wilson, but frankly if they can’t win at home against an Arizona Cardinals team that looks worse now than when these two teams met in Week 4, they really don’t deserve to be in the playoffs.Again, this is the worst case scenario Steve Largent Color Rush Jersey , not the likely scenario. If Washington and Philadelphia both lose, Seattle has a much greater chance of qualifying in a situation where they collapse to 8-8. The best case scenario is that the Seahawks beat the Chiefs, and a trio of losses by Washington, Philadelphia, and Minnesota assure Seattle of the #5 seed and a chance to rest starters against the Cardinals in week 17. The Panthers already lost to the Seahawks, so even if they win out, one Seattle victory renders Carolina unable to overtake Seattle. So let’s root for that! I appreciate a good defense-dominated game of football. The Baltimore Ravens-Pittsburgh Steelers rivalry in the late 2000s and early 2010s was genuinely compelling. Likewise the Seattle Seahawks-San Francisco 49ers at the peak of the Jim Harbaugh era. Super Bowl 53 between the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams was not my cup of tea. It was a struggle just to do this Enemy Reaction, because it was so... meh. The previous two Super Bowls were so wild that I had to split them into two parts! On the plus side, the Rams lost the Super Bowl and scored only three points. As Seahawks fans, that is our go-to for trash-talking heading into 2019, I don’t give a damn that the Rams swept Seattle in 2018. We look at special moments that tell the stories of the Buffalo Bills’ 2018 season. EDTShareTweetShareSharePlays that defined the 2018 Buffalo Bills: Baltimore RavensWith the 2018 NFL season in the books, we look back at the season and our beloved Buffalo Bills. Every week is a story, and we bring this to you through the lens of key plays that defined the game. Your Week 1 match-up:Buffalo Bills at Baltimore RavensIt was finally here! The NFL regular season. With the quarterback of the future acquired in the draft and exciting new faces in the building, things were looking up for the Buffalo Bills. Sean McDermott’s rookie year as head coach had led the Bills to their first playoff berth in nearly two decades. Looking to build off this success, the season opened with a sense of wonder. First up; the Baltimore Ravens. The team Buffalo narrowly edged out for the final playoff slot the year before was a poetic beginning to a new year. Until the game actually started. The Ravens put a beat-down on the Bills to the tune of 47-3. Along the way, the Bills stirred up a quarterback argument that still rages on today. Fans were reminded that pain is part of the process in spectacularly brutal fashion. Opening kickoff (Q1, 15:00) This is the play of the game for the Buffalo Bills. I wish I didn’t have a solid argument for that statement. Stephen Hauschka’s kick to start the game was brought out of the end zone by Janarion Grant who was marked down at the 20. This “five yards better than if he had downed it” scenario is one of few objectively positive outcomes of the game. This also represents literally the entire time the Bills were arguably in control of the game. The Ravens marched down the field and scored a touchdown with 8:49 left in the first quarter. It was the winning score. Nathan Peterman’s first pass of the day (Q1, 8:16)When you’re defining a game like this one, unfortunately the narrative steers away from highlights. This incomplete pass is all too emblematic of the day. The Bills finished the game with 98 passing yards despite throwing the ball 33 times. A 33% completion rate and just under three yards per attempt are statistics that are painful to calculate. Any incompletion would have sufficed, but Nathan Peterman’s first throw of the game was selected to juxtapose with a play we’ll look at in a moment. Tremaine Edmunds’s first NFL sack (Q2, 11:58)There’s no way to go a full 60 minutes of game time without at least a few things going right. While this game was nearly irredeemable, let’s take the time to celebrate one notable milestone. Tremaine Edmunds stays disciplined and takes down a scrambling Flacco. It’s right on the fence between sack and tackle, but we go with the official NFL log and give the rookie his credit. Nathan Peterman’s second interception (Q3 Russell Bodine Jerseys 2019 , 11:39)It’s not my intent to pile on Nathan Peterman, but there’s no way of avoiding how this shaped the story of the game. Before this throw, Peterman was 5-for-17 for 24 yards and one interception. In comparison, Lamar Jackson ended the game with four pass attempts and matched Peterman’s yardage output. Back to this throw, Kelvin Benjamin arguably should have bailed his quarterback out. Regardless, this was the death knell for the Peterman era. While it was a slower death than many hoped for (including starting again), this was the final straw. With his performance against Baltimore, Peterman earned a 0.0 passer rating. The Josh Allen Era begins! (Q3, 10:54)Josh Allen throws his first regular-season NFL pass! Here’s our juxtaposition mentioned above. Both Allen’s and Peterman’s first passes fell incomplete, but they seem like night and day. Allen’s pass found the same zip code as his intended receiver and may have even been caught if it weren’t for some contact by the defender. This was an incompletion that had promise! It was sooner than anticipated, but the Allen era was on in Western New York.Josh Allen’s final pass of the game (Q4, 0:11)This is perhaps my favorite play from the game. The execution is lacking. And ultimately it had zero bearing on the outcome of the game. What stands out is that with 11 seconds to go and down by 44 points, the Bills let Allen throw it downfield. For a team that had repeatedly played incredibly conservative football on offense in 2017 White Phillip Gaines Jerseys , the decision to allow Allen to practice more aggressive calls was refreshing.Buffalo Bills starting quarterback became very interesting Friday night The Buffalo Bills have completed two of their four preseason games in 2018, and while their starting quarterback competition appears far from settled, events from Friday night’s 19-17 win over the Cleveland Browns have provided some clarity on where things are headed there. With next Sunday’s trip to Cincinnati serving as the de facto regular season dress rehearsal for the club, here is where things (seem to) stand for the Bills at quarterback heading into that game.AJ McCarronMcCarron reportedly suffered a hairline fracture to his collarbone at some point in his four series’ worth of action last night. Obviously, that type of injury could very well keep him out of the lineup for an extended period of time, and it’s an unfortunate development in his bid to win his first starting job at the pro level.Even before that news broke, however, McCarron seemed to have lost ground in the race. McCarron’s chunk of playing time with the starting offense in Cleveland was easily the worst performance by a Bills quarterback thus far this preseason. That wasn’t necessarily all on McCarron, of course, but when you’re the owner of the only truly poor performance thus far in the competition, you’re naturally going to slip a little bit. Here’s to hoping that McCarron’s injury is not serious enough to keep him out for too long.Josh AllenAllen was a breath of fresh air for the Bills’ offense in Cleveland. Following four straight three-and-outs from the starters, the offense scored on three consecutive possessions (a touchdown and two field goals) after Allen entered the game. Granted, all of that happened after Cleveland pulled their defensive starters Phillip Gaines Jerseys 2019 , but that shouldn’t take away from the fact that Allen elevated the play of the unit when he was on the field.Through two preseason games, Allen is 18-of-32 for 176 yards with two touchdowns, no turnovers, and a quarterback rating of 92.7. He has also added 47 rushing yards on six attempts, and his ability to extend plays with his legs is becoming a distinct advantage for him in the competition. We have not really learned anything about Allen this preseason that we didn’t already know. He is Buffalo’s most talented quarterback by a country mile. He throws a great heater, but his off-speed stuff needs some work. He seems to have a good head on his shoulders, but it’s not at all clear yet how he’d handle on-field adversity when the games count. In a perfect world, he’d sit and learn for a little while, but he may not have that opportunity in Buffalo.Allen is probably the fan favorite to start at this point. That won’t matter to Brandon Beane and Sean McDermott. But given his consistent performance after moving from the third-team offense to the second-team offense this past week, it would frankly be shocking at this point if Allen didn’t see time with the first-team offense next week - especially if McCarron is sidelined.Nathan PetermanIt’s hard to imagine a scenario in which Peterman could have put a better foot forward than he has thus far in preseason action. In roughly two and a half quarters’ worth of play, with the first-team offense (against Carolina) and the third-team offense (in Cleveland), Peterman has completed 17 of 20 passes for 231 yards with two touchdowns and one (not-entirely-his-fault) turnover. That’s good for a quarterback rating of 127.3.This competition was always Peterman v. McCarron, with Allen’s progress (or lack thereof) serving as the wild card. Allen is playing well White Marshall Newhouse Jerseys , and has kept himself in the conversation as a result. But even before the injury, McCarron had fallen behind Peterman, and not just because of Peterman’s near-perfect performance. Peterman had looked sharper and more in command of the offense, and most importantly, offered some extra juice in terms of escapability and playmaking outside of the pocket.Right now, it’s easy to argue that the Week 1 starting job in Baltimore is Peterman’s to lose. Allen needs a shot with the first-team offense to truly round out the evaluation, and we all know that it’s only a matter of time before Allen takes over the starting job, hopefully permanently. But it’d be a tough sell to argue that Allen has outplayed Peterman in preseason action. Peterman has been quite good. There’s no reason to get ahead of ourselves here; the Bills won’t be doing that to themselves, either. The starting job is (probably) now a Peterman-or-Allen proposition, and a week from tomorrow, both will likely see time with the first-team offense in their most important exhibition performance yet.
Eli Manning can still play quarterback at a high level and that first-round pick Daniel Jones will be watching as his NFL career gets underway. How long he’ll be on the bench will be an open question for some time Corey Ballentine Buffalo Bills Jersey , but one member of the team’s coaching staff thinks that the rookie would be fine if he’s asked to play right off the bat. Offensive coordinator Mike Shula said on Tuesday that he believes Jones could start the 2019 opener if needed.“I think he’d be ready to go, that’s my personal opinion,” Shula said, via Tom Rock of . “I think he has that capability.”There have been two different groups of decision makers in place over the last two seasons, but one of the shared arguments for sticking with Manning while the team was going 8-32 over that span has been that they didn’t have a younger quarterback who was ready for the job. Shula’s comments suggest a different feeling this time around and they’ll likely be revisited should the Giants get off to another rough start this fall. EDTShareTweetShareShareMock draft: Todd McShay crafts a three-round Grade “A” draft for the GiantsKirby Lee-USA TODAY SportsApril 25th, and with it the 2019 NFL Draft Color Rush Corey Ballentine Jersey , is nearly upon us. After what has seemed like an interminable draft process, it is just a bit over two weeks until the New York Giants turn in their first round draft picks and we start to get to know the newest Giants. But that is still about two and a half weeks away, and we are still in the midst of that draft process. That means for the next 16 days we will continue to be inundated with gossip, rumors, and (of course) mock drafts.Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Todd McShay released his annual “Grade A” mock draft, in which he puts forth his idea of what a “best case scenario” for each team would be. In his own words, McShay says Youth Corey Ballentine Jersey , “Below is my three-round mock draft in which every team gets an A grade. I play general manager for each team at each pick, from No. 1 to No. 102.To be clear, I’m not projecting picks. This is what I see as the best selection for the team -- but no trades allowed! It’s how I would pick based on needs, value and availability. Each team’s preferences don’t matter here.”So, what kind of draft would earn an “A” grade from McShay? We pretty much already know the first pick. Raptor’s thoughts:I would be absolutely thrilled if the first two rounds worked out like this, and am in complete agreement with McShay that those three picks would deserve an “A.” We have been over this time and again, and while reports may be surfacing that Dwayne Haskins’ stock is “sinking” we are in the worst part of smokescreen season. If the Giants can find an answer for the quarterback position — a real answer, not a lottery ticket or a player who gives them the warm-fuzzies — then it is pretty much Haskins or bust for them at sixth overall. Note: Will Grier of West Virginia should also be in consideration at 17th overall and absolutely at 37th. He is very accurate Womens Corey Ballentine Jersey , has the arm to stretch defenses, and remarkably consistent (and efficient) when the level of competition rises. McShay does not have Grier going in the first three rounds at all.The notion of waiting until next year is there, but as we saw with Justin Herbert, betting on underclassmen to declare is no sure thing. What are the Giants to do for 2020 and beyond if Eli Manning retires and the underclassmen quarterbacks decide to return to school? Moving on to the 17th overall pick, getting Brian Burns at that spot is pretty much a stupid amount of value. He is the top EDGE on some boards, with elite athleticism, burst and bend, length White Lawrence Taylor Jerseys , and polished technique. I wouldn’t have a problem with the Giants selecting him at sixth overall, so getting him at 17th is a steal. Tytus Howard is starting to get some buzz at the national level as we get closer to the draft. He is a high-upside player who could be a great find on the second day, and has the potential to be a good starter early in his career. Howard shows off good feet and a very strong lower body to go with a massive frame and long arms. He will need some work to reach his potential, but that ceiling is high. Personally, I might have addressed the secondary with all three of my top safeties still on the board (Nasir Adderley, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, and Darnell Savage), as well as Michigan State CB Justin Layne. The third round is where things fall apart for me. I’m just not a fan of Mack Wilson and I believe that while he shows fluid athleticism on the move Authentic Corey Ballentine Jersey , he is a risk best taken by another team. As a player he reminds me of Alec Ogletree in that he is slow to react to offenses and too often defending grass and not the players running through his area. Staying with the linebacker position, I would take either Minnesota’s Blake Cashman or Washington’s Ben Burr-Kirven here. I have both of them above Wilson, and frankly, not far behind Devin Bush and Devin White. So Giants fans, would you give that draft an “A?”
“bromance.”Patriots quarterback Tom Brady himself openly uses the word love to describe his bond with Julian Edelman David Andrews Jerseys 2019 , a receiverhe’s come to depend on during his career. As the duo prepares to play in a fourth Super Bowl together, each says the connection might be tighter ever — both on and off the field.“We have a great relationship, Jules and I, and I trust him so much,” Brady says. “He’s always been kind of like my little brother, in a good way. I don’t have a little brother, but he’s kind of like a little brother and he knows how much I love him.”In Edelman’s case, it’s a little brother who has established himself as one of the best slot receivers in Patriots history. He missed the entire 2017 season with a torn ACL and the first four games of this season for violating the league’s performance enhancers policy. But the 32-year-old helped Brady steady an offense that struggled early this season and had to adjust following the suspension of Josh Gordon heading into the final two games.Edelman ended the regular season with a team-high 850 receiving yards and was second on the team with 74 receptions and six touchdowns. His production has continued through New England’s first two playoffs games, with Edelman hauling in 16 catches for a team-high 247 yards.Heading into the matchup with the Rams, his 1,271 postseason receiving yards are the most in Patriots history. There are also just two receivers in NFL postseason history with over 100 catches: Jerry Rice with 151 and Edelman with 105.It’s earned him high compliments not only from Brady, but from Rice, who praised Edelman as someone who has an attitude of “‘I’m going to do what I want to do White Patrick Chung Jerseys , and I’m going to go out and I’m going to ball.”It not unlike the determination used to describe Brady, who at age 41 continues to prove his skeptics wrong.“He’s a really good football player, the best,” Edelman said. “He goes out and he consistently proves it. He’s one of our leaders and he’s a leader for a reason.”Though they first met as teammates in New England when Edelman was drafted by the Patriots a decade ago, he and Brady took remarkably similar paths to get to the NFL.Both natives of California, each of them grew up idolizing the San Francisco 49ers’ dynasty led by Joe Montana and Rice.Brady played his college ball at Michigan, with Edelman eventually choosing Kent State across the border in Ohio.Their stories continued to mirror each other when it came time for the NFL draft.Brady infamously wasn’t selected until the sixth round in 2000. Edelman, an undersized quarterback who switched to receiver, didn’t hear his name called until the seventh round in 2009.Chasing the NFL was a leap of faith for Edelman, who nearly signed a contract with the CFL’s British Columbia Lions to play quarterback.“I sat down with my father and basically, he’s like ‘Let’s do it,'” Edelman recalled. “I just had an eerie feeling in my stomach and I told him I didn’t grow up wanting to play in the CFL.I went and tried to play in the NFL. That was my decision. Everything happens for a reason.”Edelman was already a fan of Brady’s when he arrived as a rookie, but he said he almost instantly recognized an underdog spirit in his new quarterback as well.As their relationship has evolved Patrick Chung Jerseys 2019 , they say they’ve developed their own sort of silent language on the field, and have unique ways to hype up each other. An example was during the AFC championship game when video captured Edelman in Brady’s face yelling , “You’re too old!” as Brady sat on the bench after throwing a first-half touchdown pass.“You’ve got two fiery guys. I think it’s fun to watch,” Patriots cornerback Jason McCourty said.“You see two guys that are the ultimate competitor. How hard they both compete in practice, you see the bromance at times, you see the fiery looks they give each other sometimes if someone messes up. Just that look of not disappointment, of just like ‘get it together.’ I think it’s almost like brothers.”Brady said he continues to be amazed by Edelman.“Look at his stature. He wasn’t built like Megatron (Calvin Johnson). He’s just built the way he was built and I think he’s just worked so hard over the years to learn how to play receiver,” Brady said. “He’s just done an incredible job.” What a play.Make that 100 of them. The NFL revealed 70 of the 100 greatest plays in league history on Friday night with a TV special produced by NFL Films that has everything from spectacular offensive performances to defensive gems. In balloting conducted by The Associated Press, 68 media members on a nationwide panel voted for their top 100.Among those disclosed, the range goes from Steve Van Buren’s touchdown in the snow in 1948 (No. 91) to Hugh McElhenny’s catch and run without a helmet in 1952 (No. 92) to the brutal hit applied by Chuck Bednarik on Frank Gifford in 1960 (No. 44) to Jim Marshall’s wrong-way run in 1964 (No. 54).Post-merger, the list features everything from John Elway’s helicopter spin in the Super Bowl after the 1997 season (No. 33) to Dan Marino’s fake spike (No. 38) in 1995. It also includes Mario Manningham’s clutch reception to spark the Giants‘ comeback to beat the Patriots in the title game for the 2011 season and Deion Sanders’ punt return for a TD the first time he touches the ball for Atlanta in 1989, which Sanders describes in detail.“So I make it down to Atlanta, had a couple days of practice White Duron Harmon Jerseys ,” Sanders recalled. “I didn’t start, but they knew punt returning is instinctive, so you got to start me returning punts. So I had a small chat with the punt return team: ‘Hey guys, just block seven. I got four, all right?'”But things didn’t go perfectly.“They kicked it and I dropped it,” Sanders added. “I took my eyes off it and I dropped it, and when I dropped it, that was the best thing that happened. Because when you drop a ball, the punt team tends to migrate together, get out of their lanes, and they all came tight. All I had to do was making it to that corner and hit it. And when I hit it, I hit.”The eclectic list ranges from the very old to the very new: outstanding recent plays such as Aaron Rodgers‘ Hail Mary to beat Detroit in 2015 (No. 52) to Derrick Henry’s 99-yard run (No. 89) and the Miami Miracle (No. 42) last year made the cut.“Until I got in the end zone, I mean honestly Duron Harmon Jerseys 2019 , I’m sitting before you all and I still don’t believe it,” Kenyan Drake said during interviews after the improbable conclusion to a 34-33 win over New England. Drake finished off a 69-yard reception-and-lateral marvel that some have dubbed “The Drake Escape.”Dozens of Hall of Famers are highlighted, as well. Along with Van Buren and Bednarik, Elway and Marino and Sanders, how about Gale Sayers’ 85-yard punt return in 1965 (No. 34), followed one spot later by Tony Dorsett’s 99-yard touchdown sprint in 1983?Walter Payton’s 1977 run through the Chiefs is 37th, with another Canton-inductee running back, Earl Campbell’s 1978 power rush against the Rams at No. 39.Don’t think sensational defensive plays were ignored.Tracy Porter’s pick-6 against Peyton Manning that clinched the Saints‘ only Super Bowl win in February 2010 is 32nd. Denver’s Jeremiah Castille stripping Cleveland’s Earnest Byner to cause “The Fumble” in the 1987 AFC title game came in 49th.The top 30 will be announced next Friday night.
"Good morning White Wesley Walker Jerseys , GGN! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day. The Jets signed Ty Montgomery yesterday. Honestly I’m not thrilled about the signing. One thing I think of regarding former Packer players (who played on offense, and no Jared Cook doesn’t count) is the extreme drop-off of the guys once they leave the comfort zone of Aaron Rodgers. In a similar fashion to former Patriot players who leave New England, these guys seem to drop off a cliff in terms of production. For teams that are actually quite starved in offensive talent it’s surprising that both Green Bay and Baltimore opted not to keep Ty. Rumors of him being a locker room hassle don’t help when his production became so mediocre. Hopefully he can turn it around in New York, but I’m not really holding my breath. Tackling Dalvin Cook has been a challenge this season. The Minnesota Vikings running back has vaulted to the top of the league’s rushing list while leaving behind a trail of defenders who have either bounced off his 5-foot-10, 210-pound frame or simply been left in his wake. How has Cook has made so many defenders miss? It’s due as much to his mind as his unusual blend of speed and strength.“I just take a picture before I get the ball in my hands and kind of see what type of leverage he’s giving me,” Cook said. “Once I get it in my hands, it’s in the zone from there. I kind of put myself in place to break those tackles before I even get the ball in my hand. So I take a picture of how he’s trying to stop me and the way he’s trying to position his body, and I do the total opposite.”The Vikings (7-3) have relied on a balanced offense to win five of their past six games heading into Sunday, when they host Denver. Cook leads the NFL in rushing yards and total yards from scrimmage, putting himself at least in the conversation about the MVP award. This is the type of productivity the Vikings envisioned when they made Cook their second-round draft pick in 2017. Healthy now and enjoying a heavy workload to go with it, Cook has finally been able to show more than just flashes of his talent. After totaling 183 yards in Sunday’s 28-24 win at Dallas, Cook now has a league-leading total of 1 White Dennis Byrd Jerseys ,415 yards. He leads the NFL with 991 rushing yards and is tied for second in total touchdowns with 10. He was named the NFC offensive player of the week on Wednesday.“I see a guy that’s capable of hitting a home run every time he touches the ball,” said Broncos coach Vic Fangio, who faced Cook twice last season as Chicago’s defensive coordinator. “He runs harder than people realize. A lot of guys bounce off of him. He’s not just a fast, quick back. He’s a fast, elusive back that, when it comes time for contact, he breaks and runs through tackles. To me, he’s a complete back, plus he’s got over 400 yards in the passing game. He’s a big part of their offense.”Cook has become one of only four players since 1948 to accumulate at least 950 rushing yards, 400 receiving yards and 10 rushing touchdowns through the first 10 games of the season. Todd Gurley (2018) Dennis Byrd Jerseys 2019 , LaDainian Tomlinson (2006) and Priest Holmes (2002) were the others. Tomlinson was the NFL MVP in 2006.As Fangio noted, Cook has been the perfect fit for the system designed by former Broncos coach Gary Kubiak, who was hired by the Vikings as an adviser for offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski. Since Stefanski took over the offense play calling in the third-to-last game of last season, Cook has a league-high 1,746 scrimmage yards, 1,239 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 13 games.“It’s some of the stuff that I like running and some of the stuff that I was good at,” Cook said. “Just had to get my body physically and mentally ready for the challenge. Love the scheme and love everything we’re doing.”After being limited to 15 games over his first two NFL seasons because of injuries, Cook has played in every game this year. He leads the league with 203 carries, and only five running backs have more than his 40 catches. It’s not just the workload. According to SportRadar White Mark Gastineau Jerseys , he’s fourth in the NFL with 26 broken tackles and fourth with 543 rushing yards after contact.“I always knew that he was a terrific runner,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said. “But I think the other two things, how hard he runs and that the first person typically doesn’t tackle him, has been really impressive. And then the other part is when he gets the ball in space, people can’t catch him. He just has that extra gear.”
Randy Moss Jersey , the case of a former basketball player deserves consideration. In 1994, Heisman Trophy winner and national championship quarterback Charlie Ward was available for the NFL draft, two months before the NBA draft. Ward had said that he could make no promises about signing an NFL contract, if he wasn’t drafted in round one.Earlier this week on , Hall of Fame head coach Tony Dungy (a former Vikings defensive coordinator) said that the late Dennis Green had considered using a first-round pick on Ward, but ultimately decided not to risk Ward not agreeing to terms. After Ward went undrafted Cris Carter Jersey , Green offered Ward a contract.“Whether or not he accepts it, that’s up to Charlie Ward,” Green said at the time. “A free agent contract is not very lucrative, but what it gives you is opportunity. If he’s interested in the opportunity to play in the National Football League, then he’d have that chance. If not, then he’d move on and we would also.”The Knicks made Ward the 26th pick in the NBA draft Chris Doleman Jersey , and he played basketball from 1994 through 2005.For Murray, the challenge (if he wants to play football) will be to persuade the team that considers drafting him that he will indeed show up and sign a contract. Although many first-round picks end up being busts, that’s largely unavoidable. Wasting a first-round pick on a guy who never plays football is avoidable, and it’s the kind of unforced error that can get the guy who wastes the pick fired. Good news Womens Jake Ryan Jersey , Matt LaFleur, you’re head coach of the Packers. Bad news, Matt LaFleur . . . you know where this is going by now, right?LaFleur takes over an iconic franchise, but the franchise requires some fixing. That fix will have to happen on the fly, because — as quarterback Aaron Rodgers said in remarks that may be scrutinized a bit more carefully in light of his reputation for passive aggression — there’s no grace period, no redshirt year.So did LaFleur know what he was getting into when he agreed to succeed Mike McCarthy as coach of the Packers? Here’s Jay Glazer’s explanation, from his latest item for TheAthletic.com:“I know he knew some of what was going on, he knew a lot of the drama going into that interview Kenny Clark Jersey , but now to get thrust into the middle of this as a young head coach? I always tell these new head coaches to be careful what you wish for. This job is less about X’s and O’s and more about making sure 53 separate corporations all get along and are on the same page, and those corporations have a lot of messed-up people in the subdivisions. To be great, you have to be crazy. To be on this level, you’ve got to be crazy. There’s a lot of craziness inside a football building, and the head coach has to blend all that craziness together. It’s hard enough without all this drama.”Glazer is right, and LaFleur’s first challenge will be to get everyone on the same page, to manage the various personalities, and to strike the right balance between having a positive relationship with Rodgers and not being deferential to him. Thus, regardless of whether CEO Mark Murphy said it to Rodgers Reggie White Jersey White , at some point LaFleur needs to be ready to say it, loud and clear if necessary: Don’t be the problem. The first is the blown lead the Packers suffered against the Seahawks in the NFC Championship Game in January 2015.That game created cracks in the foundation of the franchise that would not be visible for a few years. The second event, and arguably the bigger blow to Green Bay’s long-term health, was the disastrous 2015 draft. We are now four years removed that draft class and of the eight players the Packers and former general manager Ted Thompson selected, none are on the roster heading into 2019.Cornerbacks Damarious Randall and Quinten Rollins had promising rookie seasons but soon came crashing back to Earth.Ty Montgomery was drafted as a wide receiver but was later converted to running back out of necessity and never really took off from there and a special teams blunder sealed his fate with the team. Linebacker Jake Ryan was solidly unspectacular and never really appeared on tape much. When you go 0-8 in a single draft, you’re sunk. One such newsworthy item revolves around the relationship between Aaron Rodgers and Matt LaFleur, as the two men most responsible for bringing the Green Bay Packers back to greatness.Monday’s Cheese Curds discussed a breakdown of their working relationship, but today’s looks at a specific facet of the scheme that has become a concern in some circles lately: Rodgers’ ability to change the play at the line of scrimmage. LaFleur’s scheme tries to minimize the need to make those changes — it’s designed to take the pressure off the quarterback. However, LaFleur is a smart guy Womens J'Mon Moore Jersey , and he knows that he needs to tailor his scheme to his players’ strengths. One way he can do that is by allowing Rodgers — one of the most intelligent players in the NFL — to have at least some freedom to react to what he sees on the field. Finding that balance will be important, and both men will likely need to relinquish a little bit of the control that they are used to, but a professional approach and a bit of compromise on both sides can get these two exactly where they need to be.Aaron Rodgers, Matt LaFleur navigating new Packers partnership - NFL.comDiscussion about how much freedom Rodgers has to make changes at the line will probably rage on well into the regular season. Aaron was able to switch into any play in the playbook under Mike McCarthy, but LaFleur admits that his offense is not set up to allow for that.Adding context to audible issue between Aaron Rodgers, Matt LaFleur | Packers WireHowever http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jk-scott-jersey , here's the counterpoint: LaFleur implied that he recognizes Rodgers' greatness and intelligence. He wants to remove the need for Rodgers to check into different plays at the line, but this comment is telling: "But certainly, if there's a play that's not gonna be good, yeah, please save us. That'd be great."Inbox: He’s positioned to have a career-defining year | Packers.comThis week's inbox addresses what Blake Martinez needs to do to take a big step, plus takes on OLB coach Mike Smith and what Tramon Williams brings to the defense.Running-game reps are evidence Packers' offensive emphasis will change | Packersnews.comDespite no hitting or pads coming on Kevin King Jersey , the Packers still did work on the running game quite a bit during OTAs and minicamp. It's understandably difficult to get a read on how effective that facet of the game will be, but for the players, it should be good practice to make sure their blocking assignments become second nature and that the backs can see the holes opening up.Veterans who could be cut by each of the NFL's 32 teams | ESPNMason Crosby is the pick here from ESPN, and that echoes some thoughts we have had here at APC this offseason. Gutekunst made a trade with old pal John Schneider, the GM of the Seattle Seahawks, trading the 30th pick and the Packers’ two fourth-rounders at 114 and 118 for pick number 21.That pick is safety Darnell Savage from Maryland. Savage ran a blistering 4.36-second 40-yard dash at the Combine in Indianapolis this year and immediately slots in as a starter at free safety with slot coverage ability. Savage’s explosiveness is also excellent, with a 39 1/2-inch vertical jump and a 10-foot-6 broad jump.Savage, who stands 5-foot-11 and 198 pounds, is a great ballhawk with eight interceptions in his college career. As a senior in 2018 Womens Corey Linsley Jersey , he recorded 52 tackles with 5.5 for losses and four picks. This selection makes him the first defensive back off the board in this year’s draft. This move likely solidifies the Packers’ intended move of Tramon Williams back to cornerback, as Savage should pair with newly-signed safety Adrian Amos on the back end of the defense. In addition, this trade seems to work out beautifully for the Packers. They were able to hold on to both of their day-two draft picks at 44 and 75, and they could move back into round four by unloading some of the four picks they still hold on day three.

Tonight marks the first of the team’s four preseason contest, as they head to The Big Easy to do battle with the New Orleans Saints.Like we did for the preseason last year, we’ll be doing an Discussion Thread for each half of this game rather than doing one for each quarter. This is, really, the thing that matters the most, so hopefully our team can get through these games unscathed.2) How’s the offensive line look? - Yes, the starting offensive line isn’t going to get more than a series or two tonight, but it’s still exciting to see the new-look Minnesota Moving Company (™ Paul Allen). After an offseason of uncertainty, it appears as those the Minnesota Vikings and tight end Kyle Rudolph have mended fences.Rudolph passed along a message via his Twitter account Monday night indicating he’s staying in Minnesota.“I am honored beyond words to say that my home, our home, will always be… in Minnesota! #UnfinishedBusiness,” Rudolph wrote.According to Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com, Rudolph has agreed to a contract extension with the Vikings. He is expected to sign the deal Tuesday morning. Per Adam Schefter of ESPN.com Ben Gedeon Jersey , it’s a four-year extension worth $36 million. With the money remaining on his current deal for 2019, Rudolph will make upwards of $43 million over the next five seasons if the contract runs to its duration.Rudolph was the subject of trade talks this offseason as extension talks with the Vikings had seemingly stalled out. Rudolph made it clear he didn’t intend to take a pay cut either. However, extension talks were back in the works three weeks ago and appear to have finally gotten over the finish line.“Just under a decade ago, I received a phone call that would change my life,” Rudolph wrote. “On that day all I knew is that I would be playing in the NFL, realizing my childhood dream. What I didn’t know was the role the state of Minnesota would play in my life. Marrying my wife and establishing our home… in Minnesota. Experiencing the birth of my 3 beautiful children… in Minnesota. Starting a journey to better the lives of children dealing with a disease that doesn’t discriminate… in Minnesota. Giving everything I can possibly give, professionally and personally, to the greatest sports franchise and it’s fans… in Minnesota.”
week and they didn’t pitch a shutout White C.J. Mosley Jerseys , but they are still 3-0 three weeks into the 2019 season.New England built a 30-0 lead before mistakes by rookies on special teams and offense allowed the Jets to get into the end zone twice. That made the final score 30-14 at Gillette Stadium and gave the Patriots a couple of things to stress about after another comfortable victory.Gunner Olszewski muffed a punt that Arthur Maulet recovered for the first Jets touchdown. The second came in the fourth quarter when Jarrett Stidham relieved Tom Brady and promptly threw an interception that Jamal Adams returned for a 60-yard score. That led Bill Belichick to put Brady back in the game to play out the string.Brady was 28-of-42 for 306 yards and two touchdowns. Those touchdowns moved him into sole possession of second place on the NFL’s all-time passing touchdown list and Drew Brees won’t be able to catch up anytime soon.Brady had a couple of sparkling hookups with Josh Gordon, who shook off a finger injury. Julian Edelman was not able to return to the game after hurting his chest, however, and linebacker Dont'a Hightower also picked up a shoulder injury that will be worth keeping an eye on as the week unfolds. While the special teams and offense had those stumbles, the Patriots defense never wavered while allowing the Jets 101 yards of offense. They sacked Luke Falk five times and Devin McCourty picked off a pass for the only takeaway of the game for the unit. The Jets are 0-3 and riddled with injuries of their own. They’ll have a bye in Week Four and hope to get quarterback Sam Darnold and others back for Week Five against the Eagles. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The New York Jets keep finding new ways to lose games, and the latest left coach Todd Bowles furious they wasted a 16-point lead for their sixth straight loss.So much went right Sunday as Jason Myers kicked five field goals C.J. Mosley Jerseys 2019 , Trumaine Johnson returned only his second interception this season 31 yards for a touchdown and the Jets blocked both a punt and an extra punt. Yet they wound up losing 26-22 to the Tennessee Titans when they couldn’t finish off a win.“If I knew the answer to that, honestly, we’d be finishing right now,” said Bowles, whose tenuous job security frays with each loss. “We’re doing the same thing we’ve been doing. At some point, we’ve got to make a play to win a ballgame. We had four penalties in that last drive alone that kept the drive alive. That shouldn’t have happened.”The Jets (3-9) had plenty of chances to put away the Titans (6-6) early only to settle for field goals on three trips inside the Tennessee 20. That included one drive that started at the Titans 18 after Kevin Pierre-Louis blocked and recovered a punt in the second quarter.Bowles said he wished he could answer the question on why the Jets are so ineffective in the red zone.“We haven’t scored in quite some time consistently, and we get stuck every time we get there. Thank goodness for Myers White Le’Veon Bell Jersey , and that’s not enough to win ballgames. We’ve got to be able to score touchdowns and stop people, and we have not done that, especially today.”Even when Andre Roberts returned a kickoff 61 yards to open the second half, the Jets went three-and-out after starting a drive at the Titans 42.“We had plenty of chances to put the game away and put our foot on their throats, and we didn’t do it,” Bowles said. The Jets went three-and-out five times with rookie quarterback Sam Darnold watching his third straight from the sideline with an injured foot. Veteran Josh McCown started, yet he was just 17 of 30 for 128 yards. His lone interception came with 21 seconds left on the Jets’ last chance to end this skid.New York wound up winning time of possession Le’Veon Bell Jersey 2019 , holding the ball for more than 33 minutes. The Titans had the edge in total offense 403-280.McCown said the Jets will look at what they can do better in the red zone moving forward.“We just weren’t good enough when we got down there, and guys got to look at what we can do to be better and do our best to get it fixed,” McCown said.Asked if the issues revolve around playcalling or execution, McCown said he only knows execution as a player. Settling for field goals didn’t help.“When you get the ball in advantageous positions, you’ve got to go score and get seven (points),” McCown said. “You can’t stack threes up all day. It’s going to come back and get you, and it got us.”Bowles said Darnold could have played Sunday White Sam Darnold Jerseys , but needed more work after missing the previous two games. Bowles wouldn’t say yet if Darnold will play when the Jets visit Buffalo next Sunday. The Jets also hurt themselves with too many penalties, finishing with 11 for 96. A facemask penalty on Johnson added 15 yards to a 25-yard scramble by Marcus Mariota on the Titans’ winning drive.Wide receiver Quincy Enunwa said a lack of discipline is what cost the Jets.“What can a coach do? A hold or anything like that, they can’t control that,” he said. “That’s on us. We have to play smarter. It has kind of been a thing all year. It is pretty frustrating.”
.The Chargers quarterback opened the game with a record 25 consecutive completions and finished with the highest ever completion percentage by going 28-of-29.Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was as impressed as anyone.“It’s nearly impossible Jacob Bailey NFL Draft , which is the reason why it has never been done before,” Brady said Monday night during his weekly interview on Westwood One, via Mike Reiss of ESPN. “Philip made incredible throws. I watched the game. Obviously when someone has a record-breaking performance, I want to go figure out what the heck they’re doing.“And the reality is there is a high level of difficulty on a lot of those throws. He made great throws where the receivers could get their hands on the ball and make the catch. The receivers made some good catches. Really the incompletion came where he got a little hit as he was getting ready to pass. That probably would have been a completion. That’s just remarkable.”Rivers, 36, has completed 69.5 percent of his passes for 3,119 yards with 26 touchdowns and six interceptions. The Chargers are 8-3.“The Chargers are having a great season; Philip is having a helluva year Jacob Bailey Buffalo Bills Jersey ,” Brady said in the interview. “I’m very happy for him. That’s an incredible record to have.” New England selects Michigan DE Chase Winovich with the 77th overall pick."The New England Patriots selected defensive end Chase Winovich out of Michigan with the 77th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. Winovich was regarded as one of the top pass rushing prospects in the draft and is a perfect fit for his new team. Here’s why.Tremendous AthleteThe 6’3, 255 pound Winovich is the perfect size for what the Patriots ask of their edge defenders and his athletic profile is actually a 98.2% match with former Patriots edge defender Shea McClellin. Winovich runs a ridiculous 6.94s three cone drill (90th percentile), 4.59s 40-yard dash (94th percentile), and 4.11s 20-yard shuttle (95th percentile). He’s got plenty of speed to disrupt plays and he uses that to his advantage by never letting up until the whistle. While he might not have the same strength as other players, he uses his instincts to get an advantage on the opposing blockers. Pats Pulpit reacts to the Damien Harris and Yodny Cajuste picksSubscribe to the Pats Pulpit podcast for more draft reactions! If that doesn’t convince you, there are just three other players in NFL Combine history that weighed 250+ pounds, and ran a sub-4.6s 40-yard dash Color Rush Jacob Bailey Jersey , sub-7.0s three cone, and sub-4.2s shuttle: LB Brian Urlacher (2000), DE DeMarcus Ware (2005), and EDGE Connor Barwin (2009). That’s ridiculous company.Incredible ProductionWinovich has 34.5 tackles for loss over the past two seasons, which is tied for eighth-most in college football. He’s added 13.5 sacks over that same time frame, too, which ranks 28th. He gets the job done in the trenches.According to Pro Football Focus Youth Jacob Bailey Jersey , he has the second-most quarterback pressures and run stops over that time frame among Power 5 defensive linemen. His defensive grades are matched only by Joey Bosa, Myles Garrett, and Nick Bosa. He’s a strong athlete that’s been productive on the field. That’s a great combo.Scheme FlexibilityThe McClellin comparison is great for Winovich because that is likely how the Patriots will use Winovich. Unless Winovich adds 15 extra pounds of weight, he’s not likely to have the same job that Trey Flowers had or that Michael Bennett and Deatrich Wise project to have. These heavier players need to have the ability to kick inside on certain pass rushing situations. The Patriots still want their lighter edge defenders to have the flexibility to play both the even and odd defensive fronts. They just need to be able to put their hand in the dirt to rush the quarterback, have the flexibility to drop back into coverage, and play the 5-man front like Kyle Van Noy and Dont’a Hightower and McClellin. Winovich can do that.Positional DepthThe Patriots needed to think about the future of the defensive end position. Michael Bennett, Deatrich Wise Womens Jacob Bailey Jersey , and John Simon are roster locks and under contract for two more season, but Bennett is older, Wise is still not a complete player, and Simon showed a lot of promise last season, but shouldn’t be taken for granted.Winovich rounds out that top four rotation nicely with a good complementary skill set. And now players like Keionta Davis, Derek Rivers, and Trent Harris will all have to prove they deserve a roster spot Authentic Jacob Bailey Jersey , even if they won’t be a part of the rotation.Winovich is a perfect Patriots pass rusher that fills a long-term need and was selected with great value. What a pick!
